Minor Moon's Sam Cantor writes resonant journeys into songs. The Chicago-based musician has mined the pastoral and rollicking sounds of cosmic country for contemplative and thrilling songwriting, conjuring up engaging Neil Young grooves, eye-opening atmospherics, and a healthy amount of Midwestern twang. The band's 2021 record, Tethers (Ruination Record Co. / Whatevers' Clever), has been described as "a gorgeous feast of smart songwriting and exquisite instrumentation" (Gold Flake Paint) that evokes "warm Americana with an otherworldly hum...Sprawling and complexly arranged" (Paste). Minor Moon is currently working on their next full-length record.
Bats is the solo project of Jess Awh: a writer, musician, and recording artist based in Nashville, TN. Her sophomore album, Blue Cabinet, was released via Citrus City records in 2022 and endeared listeners with its lyrically driven, intimate alt-country sound. Her live band uniquely applies traditional instruments like fiddle and pedal steel guitar to a more contemporary songwriting style, blending Nashville hometown influence with indie rock sensibilities.
